“Let’s Dance” 10” x 10” - hand painted silk mounted on canvas
I love to let my brush dance across the silk fabric. This medium has kept me intrigued for over 25 years. It is like painting on air, there is no resistance to the brush. Nothing like seeing the colors flow and blend directly on the silk.
Now my silk paintings and photographs inspire my writings. I am happy to share three of my pieces are included in “The Electric Womb” exhibition currently showing at Writers Ink Inspiration Gallery at Liberty Station in San Diego. It features ten poet/artist womyn. www.TheElectricWomb.com
“Let’s Dance” is accompanied with some of my favorite haiku on the wall as well.
Meet Mercedes, one of my favorite students, she is 98 years young.
We try out different mediums, this is her first time to try silk painting. Love her color selection! (She is wearing her daughter’s apron) I know she wants to paint more to give as gifts.
Dye-na-Flow is a non-toxic silk paint made by Jacquard. Salt sprinkled on top of the wet colors create spontaneous patterns. This makes each silk scarf unique.

“Midnight Tango” 10” x 10 - hand painted silk mounted on canvas
Midnight Tango
midnight tango
precise steps required
rose clenched in teeth
a missed beat
big toe bruised
purple turns to chartreuse
fireflies twinkle
sparks still fly
the velvet night curtain descends
what a night
what a night
mourning doves cuddle
feathers got ruffled
soon they shall take flight
this pair pair wants to tango in the daylight
